Roller Coaster Road
Route 11, in Biei Town, is known as the ‘Roller Coaster Road,’ because of its wavy form.
The road runs for about 2.5 km (4.2km, including the section which is closed during winter).
Because it runs over Biei’s wavelike hills, there is a 65m difference in elevation between the highest and lowest points of the road.
On the northern half of the road, which is particularly wavy, you can experience the up-down motion of the hills in three separate places.
You can also see the Tokachi Mountain Range from the road.
