Wind cave on the talus slope under the “Monster Rock”

There is a steep cliff on the northwest in Mt.Kamihorokamettoku, and Mt.Kamifuranodake. You can see rocky area called Bakemono-Iwa which means monster rock in Japanese.

The area under Bakemono-Iwa has a slope where stones are accumulated, and the area is called talus.

There are spaces between stones and stones on the slope, and sometime air cooled in an underground flows out through the spaces called wind cave.

Yezo Pika is called survivors from the Ice Age. They don’t like hot temperature in Summer, and tend to live in cool place between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius. They make a good use of wind cave, and live in nature.
