Fukiage Hot Spring is artesian hot spring found in 1902.

It is assumed that thermal activity in Mt.Tokachidake has been a main heat source for the Hot Springs, and temperature and components of Hot Springs in Mt.Tokachidake have been changed by volcanic activities.

Hakuginso spring source is located in the south of Hakuginso which is lodging facilities. Hakuginso used to use the spring as bathing facility but now they stop using the hot spring. Instead, Bengara Hot Spring come out in the southeast of Hakuginso, and is used for hot spring facility in Hakuginso currently.

Fukiage Hot Spring was used as accommodation facility in the past, but only bathtub still remains today, and it is known as Fukiage Roten-no-yu.
The temperature of the hot spring was 36 degrees in the autumn of 1986, but after eruption of Mt.Tokachidake in 1988-89, the hot spring increased in temperature, and reached 57 degrees in 1996.
After the phenomena, there is no any big change in temperature except the case that the temperature fell due to the mixing of the water of melted snow with the hot spring.

Fukiage Hot Spring has pH 2.4 to 3.1. The number fluctuates with the seasons, but after eruption of Mt.Tokachidake in 1988-89, Bengara Hot Spring, Fukiage Hot Spring, and Hakuginso have the same change level of spring quality.

In addition, as volcanic activities become more active, chlorine ion in the hot springs has a tendency to increase. This demonstrates volcanic activity and hot spring components have positive correlation.

Temperature and components of Tokachidake Hot Springs have been changed by volcanic activities of Mt.Tokachidake. Taking into this consideration, this site is playing an important role to think and to learn both of volcanic activities and blessing of volcano, as well as disaster prevention.
