Ground Crater Pyroclastic Flow Deposit
You can observe pyroclastic flow deposit which was made in the time when Mt.Tokachidake erupted at ground crater 3,300 years ago.
Pyroclastic flow deposit is classified into two layers: Ground Crater Pyroclastic Flow Deposit 1 and: Ground Crater Pyroclastic Flow Deposit 2. Those are overlapping layers, and overlapping proves eruptions occurred twice in succession.
The pyroclastic flow reached Shirogane Hot Spring, and is the largest volcanic activity during the last 10,000 years.
It plays an important role to learn volcanic activities and to think about disaster prevention of Mt.Tokachidake.
